My first encounter with Sheila's transformational teachings was at Jane's House of Well Being. It was my first experience with Yoga Nidra and it was very personal and powerful experience. Sheila's honest, loving nature filled the space and allowed me to connect to some deep seated emotions that I had neglected for many years. Sheila sensed my emotion and supported me throughout the class; sitting near me and holding my hand throughout parts of the class while continuing to hold the space for all of the other participants. I was amazed then and continue to be amazed by her compassion and ability to openly embrace other's pain. Whatever the venue is (restorative yoga, sacred women's workshops, cranial sacral therapy), when I am around Sheila, I am uplifted. Her courage to see herself and others clearly (both shadow and light) and her ability to inquire into habitual tendencies and guide one towards meaningful action have helped me tremendously. She is a loving warrior that leads her students to their own hearts. Anyone who is able to experience her teachings will come away lighter and brighter - she is a blessing! -Leigh Ann Barnes
In early 2014, I first practiced in one of Shelia’s open yoga classes in Saint Louis, and I feel blessed to have attended her class. Simply put, her beautiful presence and leadership are rare gifts, seeped in nurturing Love, kindness, connectedness, collective female consciousness, and empowerment. Softness and Strength. When you take Sheila’s classes, you will feel emotionally and physically nurtured and challenged. You will be encouraged to use your voice, to take up space, and to safely push past internal and external barriers. She will guide you to sink into the vulnerable and powerful seat of Love within you. When I find myself feeling disempowered or disconnected, I know that if I attend one of Sheila’s classes, I will leave with an increased sense of courage and faith in myself to face my personal healing process and my goals. I know that I will experience myself as fully inhabiting my body. Sheila has a rare gift of lovingly nurturing and empowering her students at the same time. You will be encouraged to listen to yourself, you will be encouraged to break through vulnerability barriers and digest your emotional experience. You will be invited to remember the song of your soul. I highly recommend the beautiful experience of attending her classes to men and women, couples, and individuals of any age.
